Our Purpose: We are dedicated to eliminating hunger in Forsyth County by feeding and aiding the hungry – children, elderly, working poor, and homeless – serving with integrity and respect Our Mission: To gather perishable food that would otherwise go to waste and deliver to local food ministries that provide food to the hungry What We Do:
We seek to eliminate hunger in Forsyth County. We do this by supporting churches and other organizations operating food pantries, soup kitchens, shelters, and other outreach programs to the hungry in Forsyth County.
Our primary initiative is Food Rescue.
We depend on financial support from corporations, governmental agencies, other nonprofit organizations, and individual contributors. We are an IRS recognized 501(c)3 non-profit, and all contributions are tax deductible.
What is Food Rescue:
Food Rescue or Food Recovery is the practice of safely collecting perishable food from restaurants, grocery stores, catering services, and bakeries that would otherwise go to waste, and distributing it to food pantries, soup kitchens, and shelters for distribution to the hungry.
According to the U.S EPA, in 2010 over 33 million tons of food was thrown away. We seek to recover the perfectly safe and edible food and make it available to those of our neighbors who need it most.
